asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what countries have appointed ambassadors to Russia; and whether he contemplates appointing a British ambassador?

Mr. SAMUEL

The following countries have appointed Ambassadors to the Soviet Union:

France, Japan,
Germany, Persia,
Italy, Turkey.
As regards the second part of the question, I have nothing to add to the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member for Central Hull (Lieut.-Commander Kenworthy) on the 23rd February.
