Mr. GUINNESSI have no information as to the value of silk and artificial silk goods which have been imported but not presented to the Customs for examination, nor are figures available showing the value of silk and artificial silk goods deposited by traders in bonded warehouses. As regards the second part of the question, I would point out that the period which elapses after importation before payment of duty, with or without deposit in a bonded warehouse, depends on the circumstances of the individual case and there is no information which would enable an average period to be determined.
