§ Mr. R. McNEILLAccording to my information, some 537 persons suspected of conspiracy have been, since April last, tried by court-martial. Of these, 109 1579W have been acquitted, 144 received sentences varying from three months' to five years' imprisonment, and 173 of six years' to 15 years'. There have been five sentences of life imprisonment and 106 death sentences. Since April only one death sentence has, I am glad to say, been confirmed.
