HC Deb 21 May 1924 vol 173 cc2221-2W
Captain BOWYER

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will have urgent inquiries made about the case of Mr. T. H. Johnson, who is now undergoing a course of training at Clark's College, Bristol; is he aware that Mr. Johnson was admitted, on the 10th December, 1923, into hospital at Kingswood, Bristol, and that on 24th April, 1924, he was recommended for 20 days' leave, but no arrangements were made by the divisional director of training about pay and that three weeks' money is now owing; and will he see that all the money owing to Mr. Johnson is paid to him without delay?

Mr. SHAW

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer given by the Minister of Pensions on 19th May. Before going on leave Mr. Johnson was told by the local training officer that no training allowances could be paid during his absence from training, but that he would receive his pension of £2 11s. 4d. a week. To this he raised no objection. Pension was paid and there is no ground for paying training allowances in addition or instead.
