§ Mr. STRANGERasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can give the number of British vessels which have left British ports to be repaired in Dutch, German, and Belgian ports since the beginning of 1923, and the approximate cost of such repairs?
Mr. ALEXANDERSome information on this subject was given in answer to a question by the hon. Member for Sunderland on 11th March, and I will endeavour to obtain further information as to the number and tonnage of British ships repaired on the Continent in 1923 and 1924. I am afraid it will be very difficult to frame any useful estimate as to the cost of the repairs.
