HC Deb 11 March 1924 vol 170 c2159W
Mr. A. SOMERVILLE

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the privilege of recommending candidates for nomination to cadetships at Sandhurst and Woolwich will be extended to all secondary schools; and, if this will not be the case, will he state upon what principle the privilege will be granted?

Mr. WALSH

The privilege in question is extended to all secondary schools approved by the Army Council as complying with paragraph 32 of the Regulations, a copy of which I am sending to the hon. Member. There are at present about 115 such schools, and the purpose of the Regulations is to secure that any school may be approved which educates boys satisfactorily in the subjects of the Army Entrance Examination, and which maintains an efficient contingent of the Officers' Training Corps.
