Sir F. HALLasked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the fact that the ex-service temporary clerk in the Post Office is called upon to place a 2d. stamp on the receipt for his weekly wages, and that this practice was recommended to be abolished by the issue of a Treasury Circular, and has consequently become obsolete in many other Government Departments, he will forthwith take steps to have the system abolished?
§ Mr. HARTSHORNThere are special difficulties attending any modification of this system in the Post Office; but the matter is receiving active attention, and I am hopeful that it will be possible to arrive at some solution in the near future.
