HC Deb 04 March 1924 vol 170 c1201W
Sir F. HALL

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the fact that the ex-service temporary clerk in the Post Office is called upon to place a 2d. stamp on the receipt for his weekly wages, and that this practice was recommended to be abolished by the issue of a Treasury Circular, and has consequently become obsolete in many other Government Departments, he will forthwith take steps to have the system abolished?

Mr. HARTSHORN

There are special difficulties attending any modification of this system in the Post Office; but the matter is receiving active attention, and I am hopeful that it will be possible to arrive at some solution in the near future.
