HC Deb 02 June 1924 vol 174 c896W
Mr. GROVES

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that upon the return of a deceased ex-service man's death certificate a notice is attached stating that the same is returned with the Minister's compliments; whether he is aware that this is resented by parents and widows; and whether he will issue instructions to cease such issue?

Mr. F. O. ROBERTS

It is the practice of my Department, when returning documents of any nature to a pensioner or claimant, to enclose with them a small printed buff slip indicating the source from which they come. I hesitate to believe that so simple a procedure can be really liable to the general misconstruction indicated in the question. The form has been in use for many years, and this is the first instance in which any objection has been taken to it.
