§ Mr. SHAWNo steps are taken by this Department to train blinded ex-service 901W men in telephone operating, but in a very limited number of cases in certain Government Departments, where the local conditions are appropriate to their employment, blinded ex-service men have been appointed, through the Joint Substitution Board, as telephone attendants.

Mr. GRAHAMFollowing is a statement of the number of blinded ex-service men placed by the Joint Substitution Board as shorthand-typists in Government Departments in London and the South-Eastern area up to the 30th May.
