asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air how many officers of the general duties branch of the Air Service, liable to fly and ready for action, are stationed in the United Kingdom, without calling up reserves?

The number of qualified officer pilots in the general duties branch fit for full flying duties and stationed in the United Kingdom is 1,171. In addition, there are 38 qualified officer observers, 62 fully qualified non-commis- sioned officer pilots, and 220 officers and 15 non-commissioned officers under flying instruction.
