HC Deb 29 July 1924 vol 176 c1911W
Miss JEWSON

asked the Postmaster-General whether Post Office employés not desiring to claim exemption from jury service, allowed under Sections 43 and 89 of the Post Office Act, will be penalised in any way for undertaking this duty if called upon to do so?

Mr. HARTSHORN

No case has arisen in which a Post Office servant has expressed a wish not to be exempted from jury service. Where officers, whose names have inadvertently been included in the jury lists, have been called on to serve, the period of absence has been regarded as either part of their annual leave or as special leave without pay, but no further action has been taken.
