HC Deb 24 July 1924 vol 176 c1532W
Mr. LUMLEY

asked the Minister of Pensions whether a woman who, when her husband has been unemployed, has been partially maintained out of the pension of a son in hospital, will receive a dependant's pension on the death of that son during the time that her husband remains unemployed?

Mr. ROBERTS

The hon. Member will appreciate that it is not easy to give a precise answer with reference to a case in which the full circumstances are not stated. The fact of temporary unemployment would not be a ground for the award of pension to the parent under the terms of the Warrant. But if the circumstances of the case otherwise satisfied the conditions of the Warrant, the case would, of course, in the contingency contemplated, be eligible for consideration. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind, I shall be glad to look into it, if he will let me have details.
