HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 cc1139-40W
Mr. E. HARVEY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, since February, any Reports have been received of further raids made from Abyssinia into territories under British control; and, if so, whether it is proposed to lay these Reports upon the Table of the House?

Mr. PONSONBY

Reports have been received of three raids from Abyssinia into the Sudan since the beginning of this year, only one of which was of a serious nature. On that occasion a force of 200 Abyssinians penetrated up the Khor Daga as far as Liss to collect tribute. In the two other cases the raiding parties were driven back after slight skirmishes. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
