HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 c1146W
Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Postmaster-General what is the weekly income derived for the display of advertisements in post offices; and how many advertisements have been refused display, and for what reasons?

Mr. HARTSHORN

The weekly income derived from the display of advertisements in post offices is increasing as the scheme develops. The average during the past financial year was £427. Approximately 50 advertisements in all have, been refused display in accordance with the terms of the contract, which provides that no advertisement shall be exhibited relating to alcoholic liquors, lotteries, betting, gambling or any illegal or immoral business or matter, or which is unsuitable for display in a Government building.
