SUGDENasked the Minister of Labour if he will offer facilities by way of free interest loans of moneys to business firms willing to put into operation special trade schemes to absorb the present unemployed if such schemes are both commercially and actually sound and also give requisite assurance of continuance, with a view to obtaining products, new industries, 2603W and eventually superseding unemployment grants, and which at present do not contribute products of labour?
§ Major BOYD-CARPENTERMy right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer is unable, in view of the heavy demands on the Exchequer, to add to the existing very large grants for the relief of unemployment.
