§ Sir T. BENNETTasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, seeing that the Secretary of State has given certain assurances to a-group of Members of this House on matters connected with the settlement of Kenya affairs, he will state whether those matters a-re amongst the subjects set down for discussion at the conference which is to be held at the Colonial Office in May?
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREThe Secretary of State received a deputation of Members of this House who wished to put before him their views on the position in Kenya. My right hon. Friend made it clear that no decision could be reached in advance 565W of the forthcoming discussions. At the same time, he explained that the proposals for a settlement which were sent out to the Governor last September did not involve any change of policy with regard to certain matters which will no doubt come up in the discussions, but cannot be regarded as open questions.
