§ Mr. M. WILSONasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Governor of Tanganyika is encouraging the natives of that territory to grow coffee; and, if so, what steps, are being taken to ensure proper inspection of such plantations, with a view to keeping up the standard of the coffee and to avoid outbreaks of disease?
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREThe growing of coffee by natives is encouraged by the Government of the territory. I have no information available as to the inspection of plantations, but that would appear to be part of the duties of the officers of52W the Agricultural Department, and I have no reason to suppose that the necessary supervision is not exercised.
