BARLOWAs stated by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in reply to a question on 9th March, it is estimated that the total expenditure for the relief of unemployment between 1st April, 1919, and 3rd March, 1923, by the State and local authorities, including existing commitments, is £400,000,000.
