HC Deb 21 March 1923 vol 161 c2602W
Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the Home Secretary whether he will state the composition of the Committee appointed to consider the conditions of service of those employed in prisons; and whether he has asked the Committee to consider the position of temporary officers engaged on continuous night duty, 10 hours per night for 14 consecutive night, and report as to the possibility of allowing them one night off per week or some other concession which will render their duties less arduous?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The Chairman of the Committee is the Earl Stanhope. The other Members are the Noble Lord the Member for Hastings, the hon. Member for South Ayrshire, the Hon. John Dewar, Mr. J. H. McC. Craig and Mr. A. L. Dixon. I have asked the Committee to consider the position of temporary officers employed in the prison service.
