HC Deb 21 March 1923 vol 161 cc2602-3W
Mr. TILLETT

asked the Home Secretary whether he will lay upon the Table of the House the particulars of the reason or reasons for deporting George Clancy, who is Manchester born and a citizen of the aforesaid city?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The answer is in the negative. The reasons will be communicated to the Advisory Committee if the internee make representations against the Order.

Mr. PRINGLE

asked the Home Secretary whether, in relation to the persons arrested in this country and deported to Southern Ireland, the Government of the Irish Free State stated that it was essential that those persons should be interned in Southern Ireland; if so, whether this representation was made on the ground of the greater security in Irish prisons; or, if not on this ground, on what ground was it represented that internment in Ireland was essential?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I am not in a position to add anything to the very full statements made by the Attorney-General and myself in recent Debates on this subject.
