DAVIESasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department what schemes, if any, for stimulating trade enterprise in the Crown Colonies and Protectorates are now under consideration of the Department; whether any such schemes have been put into operation during the past six months; and with what result?
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GORE:The Colonies and Protectorates are carrying out large programmes of public works, for which they have raised loans in this country. It is anticipated that the effect of these works will be to stimulate trade at home and locally. The question whether these programmes could be extended with Imperial assistance with a view to stimulating trade is under consideration.
