HC Deb 02 August 1923 vol 167 cc1752-3W
Lieut.-Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the Italian Post Office are surcharging letters sent to Italy since 14th May and stamped with a 2½d. stamp; and whether he will bring the fact to their notice that this is the correct postage?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

Yes, Sir. The matter has already been brought to the notice of the Italian Post Office. They have explained that the irregular surcharge was due to delay on their part in announcing the reduction in British postal rates for places abroad, and they have undertaken to repay any amounts wrongly collected.
