HC Deb 02 August 1923 vol 167 cc1741-2W
Mr. COLLISON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total amount of the public debts of the Union of South Africa, the Commonwealth of Australia, the Dominion of Canada, and the Dominion of New Zealand, respectively; and what is the amount of those debts per head of the population of the respective territories?

Captain HACKING

I have been asked' to reply. According to the latest particulars available, the figures are as follow:

Treasury have agreed to grant a sum of money, in excess of the normal Vote, to provide for additional special schools in the country?

Mr. WOOD

The Treasury have no power to grant any money in excess of the amount voted by Parliament. I have no reason to expect that the action referred to in the reply which I gave on the 9th July last to the hon. Member for Blackpool (Major Molloy) will cause an excess on the appropriate sub-head of the Board's Vote.
