HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 c688W
Major BARNETT

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the scheme for the provision of housing accommodation for women clerks at Acton, which was recently submitted to the Public Works Loan Board and approved by the Acton Urban Council, was refused assistance from the Local Loans Fund under the Housing of the Working Classes Acts on the ground that those Acts were not intended to provide houses or flats for single women?

Major BOYD-CARPENTER

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer given yesterday by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health to the hon. Members for the Moss Side Division of Manchester (Mr. Gerald Hurst) and Wednesbury (Mr. Short).
