HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 cc714-5W
Mr. LAWSON

asked the Minister of Pensions what are the duties of regional directors; whether he is aware that these duties are in three regions being performed by the commissioner of medical services; whether the medical services in the regions are in any way impaired as a result of the dual duties; and whether the respective commissioners of medical services possess the special experience necessary for a successful performance of the duties of a regional director?

Major TRYON

Regional directors are responsible to me for the proper administration of all matters relating to War pensions performed in their regions. In two of the smaller regions the duties of regional director are combined with those of commissioner of medical services, and in a third the commissioner of medical services is temporarily acting as regional director in consequence of a vacancy which occurred on the 23rd instant. I am quite satisfied with the manner in which these commissioners are performing the dual function.
