HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 c1908W
Mr. SHINWELL

asked the Postmaster-General whether the local authority at Bathgate have, an behalf of the trading community, requested postal facilities for the Bridgend district of that town, which is a considerable distance away; and whether he will consider establishing a sub-office or in some other way meet the needs of the district?

Sir W. JOYNSON - HICKS

I understand that the centre of Bridgend is not more than 600 yards from the Bathgate head post office. It. would be contrary to practice to establish a new sub-post office within so short a distance of a head post office. The present facilities appear to meet the reasonable requirements of the neighbourhood.
