HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 cc1906-7W
Mr. F. GRAY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the present hours fixed by the Regulations during which printed-paper packets prepaid one halfpenny may be posted for despatch on the day of posting causes great inconvenience to traders throughout the country; and whether he can see his way to extending the hours for the posting of such packets?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

To meet representations received from various quarters, my predecessor decided to extend the latest time for posting halfpenny packets for the night mails from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. generally. In some places it has teen found possible to fix the hour a little later. I could not sanction any further extension of time without relinquishing administrative benefits and substantial savings.
