HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 c1906W
Lieut. - Colonel MOORE-BRABAZON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he-can give an undertaking that no proceedings will be taken against amateur constructors of wireless receiving sets pending future Regulations on the subject and when may these be expected?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

No proceedings will be taken in such cases until have made an announcement as to the conditions under which persons who make their own receiving sets can obtain licences. I hope to make such an announcement at a very early date.

Lieut.-Colonel MOORE-BRABAZON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will consider the advisability of recommending to the Government legislation against the abuse of reaction?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Reaction on the broadcasting wave-lengths during broadcasting hours is specifically forbidden in all receiving licences which are now being issued. Further legislation on this point is not necessary.
