§ Sir R. HORNEI can only deal with the savings banks for which the State is responsible. On the 20th November last the cash deposits in the Trustee savings banks were approximately £73,000,000. On the 31st December last the deposits in the Post Office Savings Bank were approximately £264,500,000 Interests on the deposits, which are repayable at call, is at the rate of 2½ per cent. per annum.
