Sir J. D. REESasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has information to the effect that the American tariff on cotton laces and nets is likely to be increased from 60 to 90 per cent., with corresponding increases in respect of lace curtains and curtain nets; and whether, in view of the already depressed condition of the lace trade, he will make immediate representation to the United States Government deprecating these increases, if it should prove that such are contemplated?
