§ Sir R. CLOUGHasked the Home Secretary whether Ids attention has been called to the number of crimes in which the use of poison is involved; and whether the law regulating the sale of poisons is sufficiently strong at present to restrict all improper sales?
§ Mr. SHORTTI believe that the use of poison for a criminal purpose has always been of rare occurrence in this country, and, notwithstanding two or three recent cases, I do not think it can be alleged that it has become commoner than it used to be. I doubt if it is possible by law to ensure that there will be no improper sales, especially in the case of poisonous substances that are commonly used for legitimate purposes, but the matter is receiving consideration.
