§ Captain ELLIOTasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury which Departments employing permanent women above the typist grade still have separate establishment lists, and which Departments have abolished them as a result of Clause 2 of the Resolution of the House on 5th August, 1921.
Mr. YOUNGAt present the practice of keeping separate establishment lists of men and women still obtains generally.580W I should, however, add that the Government has decided to give immediate consideration to the question of instituting common seniority lists for men and women, and that it is proposed to move for the appointment of a committee, or committees, on which the various grades would be duly represented, to examine and report on the detailed application of this general principle.
§ Mr. W. GRAHAMasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the Treasury has issued any instructions to heads of Departments as to their obligations to see that their women staff has the same classification, status, and authority as their men staff; and, if not, what is the cause of the delay, seeing that Clause 2 of the Resolutions of the House of 5th August, 1921, became immediately operative?
Mr. YOUNGI would refer the hon. Member to my answer given to-day to a question asked by the hon. Member for the Lanark Division (Capt. Elliot).
