HC Deb 02 March 1922 vol 151 cc590-1W
Mr. KILEY

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport the numbers of motor cars of the following classes that were licensed during 1921, namely: 119, 15.9, 26, 33, 40 horse-power, and over; the number of commercial cars classified according to unladen weights; and how many are of foreign manufacture?

Mr. NEAL

The statistics available have already been supplied to the Press, and I am forwarding a copy to my hon. Friend. In these statistics details are given of the licences issued according to the classes under which the vehicles are taxable. A sub-division of the classes into various horse-powers and unladen weights, such as those asked for in the question, would entail a vast amount of clerical labour, the imposition of which upon local registration authorities could not be justified at the present time. I have no information as to the number of cars of foreign manufacture.
