§ Mr. RENDALLasked the Attorney-General whether the new Rules relating to the trial of divorce petitions at the Assizes are now in force; whether cases can be entered for trial at Assizes at once; and, if not, on what date can proceedings under the new Rules be commenced?
§ Sir E. POLLOCKThe period of time required by Statute before the new Rules1084W can come into force will expire in the course of the present month. As I stated in reply to my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Moss-side (Lieut.-Colonel Hurst) on the 21st June, it is hoped that the Rules will be in operation before the end of the month. Cases can then be set down for trial at the Autumn Assizes. Directions have been given to the officials of the registries both in London and the Provinces to be in readiness by that date.
