HC Deb 09 February 1922 vol 150 c331W
Rear-Admiral ADAIR

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether an increase in ordinary rates pay to meet the full Income Tax has been provided for in next year's Estimates; and, if not, whether a reason can be given for not giving effect to the recommendation of Admiral Halsey's Committee on this point?

Mr. AMERY

No, Sir. The recommendation of Admiral Halsey's Committee that naval officers should remain assessable to Income Tax at the rates and under the special war conditions in force in 1919 was not approved.
