HC Deb 09 February 1922 vol 150 c332W
Mr. KENNEDY

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that H.M.S. "Furious" has been lying for a considerable time in dry dock at Rosyth, prior to being dismantled for commission; if he is aware that the material for refitment is now lying at Rosyth and that the work of refitting the vessel is estimated to occupy a period of 15 months; and if he can state the reasons for the recent decision to take the "Furious" to Portsmouth to be refitted, instead of carrying out the work at Rosyth?

Mr. AMERY

H.M.S. "Furious" is under reconstruction at. Rosyth, and her transfer to a southern yard is contemplated as a consequence of the decision to reduce Rosyth. The work is of such a magnitude that it could not be carried out in reasonable time by the reduced establishment.
