§ Brigadier-General COLVINasked the Under-Secretary of State for War why the Territorial efficiency medals which the late Secretary of State for War admitted on 1st August last were due to W. H. Plowright and P. H. Leeks, late of the Essex Yeomanry, have not yet been issued; and if he will cause inquiries to be made into the working of the Department concerned in respect to the issue of Territorial efficiency medals?
Lieut.-Colonel GUINNESSThese two medals will be issued to the officer-in-charge of records, for distribution to the non-commissioned officers concerned, as soon as their names have been notified in Army Orders, that is, early this month. The names were received just too late for inclusion in the last quarterly list of recipients. I do not think that any inquiry into the working of the medal branch is called for. The hon. and gallant Member will no doubt realise that the distribution of the very large number of Territorial and other medals dealt with is a matter that must be handled in bulk, and that it would be impracticable, without unfairness and a general slowing up of the work, to single out for special treatment particular cases which happen to have been brought to notice.
