HC Deb 04 December 1922 vol 159 c1259W
Colonel NEWMAN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether he is aware that the travelling facilities and conveniences afforded by the Great Northern Railway Company on its suburban system from King's Cross to High Barnet have not been altered for the past 30 years, and are very antiquated; whether he has been approached by the Great Northern Railway Company with a view to the electrification of their suburban system being taken immediately in hand; and has he been able to recommend their scheme as one deserving of obtaining the necessary financial facilities from the State?

Lieut.-Colonel ASHLEY

No scheme regarding the electrification of the suburban lines of the Great Northern Railway is at present before me, and the latter part of the question does not therefore arise.
