HC Deb 04 December 1922 vol 159 c1255W
Mr. NEWBOLD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the obligation now placed upon partners in a business to state their names on all letter paper, he will be in favour of introducing a Bill to make it obligatory upon newspaper proprietors to print at the top left-hand corner of the front page a statement of the partners of the firm or, in the ease of a limited company, to give the names of the directors, together with such accompanying details as are required to be filed with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, so that the readers may more readily discover the actual sources of public opinion?

Sir P. LLOYD-GREAME

I am not in favour of introducing a Bill such as the hon. Member suggests, and I do not think that it would necessarily secure the object he has in view.
