HC Deb 04 December 1922 vol 159 c1220W
Mr. BROAD

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he has refused to allow the London County Council to build more than one elementary school on the Bellingham housing estate; whether he is aware that there is upon this estate a population of approximately 10,000 persons, and that the only school available has accommodation for a little over 1,000; and whether, in view of the circumstances, he will reconsider his decision on this matter?

Mr. WOOD

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The Board are fully aware of the circumstances of this cast; they have informed the London County Council that they are prepared to consider proposals for the provision of the first section of a second school to be erected on the southern site at Bellingham, and preliminary plans are now under consideration.
