HC Deb 04 April 1922 vol 152 cc2052-3W
Mr. AMMON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the number of civil servants whose remuneration, inclusive of bonus, if any, is over £3,000 per annum, and the number of officers in the three fighting services whose emoluments in cash or kind exceed this figure, including and excluding table money?

Mr. YOUNG

The number of civil servants in question is one (excluding one temporary officer, appointed on a five-year engagement for the discharge of certain special duties, and one other officer in receipt of additional salary for a limited period).

The number in the fighting services is as follows:

Navy: Including table money 35
Excluding table money 10
Army (excluding India) 20
There is no officer under £3,000 whose emoluments are increased to £3,000 or more by the addition of table money. Of these 20, three are in Ireland and will, probably cease within three months, and three draw less than £3,000 from Army funds, but have their emoluments raised to over £3,000 by the Colonial Office.

Air Force: One officer, who does not draw table money.
