HC Deb 04 April 1922 vol 152 cc2058-9W
Major BOYD-CARPENTER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the depressed state of the rubber industry and the great loss sustained by investors, amounting to £190,000,000 since 1920, whether some statement can be made as to the nature of the Report of the Committee appointed by the Colonial Office and as to the position of the negotiations which are being carried on with the Government of the Dutch East Indies, and as to the prospects of an early agreement?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am not in a position to make a statement at the present time, as discussion is still proceeding with the Government of the Dutch East Indies; nor can I hold out any prospects of an early agreement.
