HC Deb 04 April 1922 vol 152 cc2054-5W
Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the Minister of Labour if he has received a protest signed by 35,500 trained nurses and nurses in training who wish to be exempted from the provisions of the Unemployment Insurance Act, and asking him whether he will remove the nursing profession from the callings to be insured under the Act; and whether he is prepared to give effect to these representations?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I received last November a petition from nurses asking for exclusion from the unemployment insurance scheme. Amendments on this point have been set down to the Unemployment Insurance Bill; I am giving very careful consideration to the matter, and will deal with it when it arises in the course of the proceedings in Committee.
