HC Deb 31 May 1921 vol 142 cc855-6W
Mr. RAPER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether a letter has been received by the Reparation Claims Department from the British Chamber of Commerce in Constantinople regarding the outstanding claims of British subjects against the Turkish Government; what decision has been arrived at in this matter; and whether His Majesty's Government can now see their way to make the advance of 50 per cent. asked for against approved claims?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I regret that it is impossible to make the advances asked for as there are no funds available for the purpose.
