HC Deb 31 May 1921 vol 142 c862W
Lieut.-Colonel M. WILSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can state from returns received from slaughter-houses the number of calves slaughtered in Great Britain in the months June, 1920, to April, 1921, inclusive, as compared with the number for the corresponding months a year before?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

From the returns received from slaughterhouses, it is estimated that the number of calves slaughtered in Great Britain during the period June, 1920, to April, 1921, inclusive, was approximately 1,050,000. For the period June, 1919, to April, 1920, the estimated number was 1,280,000. These figures are subject to correction when the results of the livestock census to be taken early in June become available.
