HC Deb 30 May 1921 vol 142 c606W
Sir T. BRAMSDON

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether any first writers or below were specially recommended for promotion during the War for meritorious services; and, if so, whether these recommendations will be taken into account when further promotions to warrant rank are made?

Mr. AMERY

A number of writers were specially recommended during the War for exceptional War services, and some of them (including first writers and below) actually received accelerated advancement. This will naturally improve the position on the list of the men concerned and bring them at an earlier age into the promotion zone. These advancements, as well as any recommendations, will be taken into account when the question of their promotion to warrant rank comes up for consideration.
