HC Deb 30 May 1921 vol 142 cc605-6W
Major GLYN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty when it is anticipated that the balance of the prize money due to the Navy will be paid; how much money has there been already distributed; and how much of the total sum to which officers and men of the Fleet are entitled has been spent on legal expenses connected with this prize fund?

Mr. AMERY

So far as can at present be foreseen, it is anticipated that payments of the balance of Naval prize money will commence early next year. A sum of £5,100,000 has already been distributed. As indicated in my reply of the 7th March last to a question of the hon. and gallant Member for Portsmouth (Sir B. Falle), legal expenses in connection with the Naval Prize Act are not chargeable to the Fund.
