HC Deb 04 March 1921 vol 138 cc2187-8W
Sir STUART COATS

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs why certain members of the Russian imperial house have been refused permission either to visit or reside in Great Britain; and whether, in view of their unquestioned loyalty to the cause of the Allies throughout the War and the fact that this country has in the past welcomed so many members of imperial and royal houses who desired to make their homes in England, these objections will now be withdrawn?

Mr. SHORTT

I have been asked to answer this question. I do not know to what particular individuals the hon. Baronet refers, but I regret that it is necessary to maintain with great strictness the general rule which had to be made in the interests of this country not to admit refugees from Russia who were and are anxious to come here in very large numbers.
