HC Deb 03 March 1921 vol 138 c2042W
Sir T. POLSON

asked the Minister of Labour the number of trade boards now in operation, the number of officials engaged in connection therewith, and the total cost, including payment to members of the boards?

Dr. MACNAMARA

Forty-two trade boards have been established in Great Britain. The total staff, apart from minor clerical staff, engaged in connection therewith, including the inspectors and the secretarial staff attached to the various boards, is 49. In addition, a certain amount of trade board inspection is done part-time by Unemployment Insurance inspectors. With regard to the last part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer, of which I am sending him a copy, which I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Harborough (Sir K. Fraser) on 23rd February.
