Mr. McCURDY

The constitution of the Royal Commission on Wheat Supplies is at present as follows:

  • H. J. Forde, Esq.
  • T. Parkinson, Esq.
  • Sir Herbert Gibson, K.B.E.
  • R. A. Love, Esq., C.B.E.
  • Sir Laurence Halsey, K.B.E.

The Commission was appointed on the advice of the Board of Trade by Royal Warrant dated 10th October, 1916. I understand that members of the Royal Commission as originally constituted were not selected on a representative basis, but rather on grounds of expert knowledge and executive ability, and that this principle has been followed whenever it has been found necessary to recommend His Majesty to appoint new members of the Commission.
